  2. Welcome to the world of  QWK!  Be sure  to  configure your setup through
  3. the  C)onfig  menu and select your conferences through the S)elect menu.
  4. $main
  5. BGQWK  is  a  door program designed for use with the GT Power host mode.
  6. It will collect new messages from any conference you are joined into and
  7. bundle those messages into a standard QWK packet.   This door is similar
  8. in function to the  Qmail  door for PCBoard systems.   I recommend using
  9. EZ-Reader or the Silly Little Mail Reader as your QWK reader.

  11. C)onfig S)elect R)eset L)ist H)elp D)ownload U)pload G)oodbye Q)uit:

  13. C)onfig  will  allow  you  to  change certain defaults.    Anything  you
  14. change is saved.  H) will request additional help on that menu.
  15.  
  16. S)elect will allow you to select conferences for  downloading.  Anything
  17. you change is saved.  H) will request additional help on that menu.
  18.  
  19. R)eset allows you to change all message pointers quickly and at the same
  20. time.   You  have  the  option on this menu to reset all pointers to the
  21. lowest message number, the highest message number, or to upload the .PTR
  22. file and reset pointers based  upon  information contained in that file.
  23. Also, if you wish to upload a duplicate reply packet, selecting the dupe
  24. function will allow you to do.
  25.  
  26. L)ist will list all users that have used the door.  This is available to
  27. give you an overview of the door activity.
  28.  
  29. The H)elp option displays this file.
  30.  
  31. D)ownload will begin the  mail  packing  process.   Before the packet is
  32. compressed, you may hit ESC to abort this process.  If  you  have tagged
  33. files while in the board, those files will be attached to your packet if
  34. you are using a batch transfer  protocol.   If  your  first  download is
  35. unsuccessful,  you  may  select  D)ownload  again to  begin the transfer
  36. again.  If the download was successful, selecting  D)ownload  again will
  37. generate a new QWK packet.

  39. The U)pload command allows you to upload any  new  messages  or  replies
  40. you entered using the reader.
  41.  
  42.   If you wish to send a netmail message in the  netmail message area, be
  43.   sure to have the destination Net/Node by itself  on  the first line of
  44.   the message.

  46. The  G)oodbye  command  may or may not appear on the  main menu.   It is
  47. controlled by your sysop.  If it does appear,  however,  you can use the
  48. G)oodbye comamnd to log off the board.   It will drop carrier.

  50. Finally the Q)uit command will exit from the door and return you  to GT.

  60. T) Transfer protocol

  62.     Available  protocols  include  Xmodem,  Ymodem,  Ymodem  Batch,  and
  63.     Zmodem.  If the sysop has Ymodem-G enabled,  that option will appear
  64.     on the screen as well.   Moby Turbo will be used on Zmodem downloads
  65.     if the sysop enables such.  If you haved  tagged files  while in the
  66.     board, you will be given the option to download them  via  this door
  67.     if you use the Zmodem or the Ymodem Batch/G protocols.

  69. A) Perform unattended download
  70.  
  71.     If you are using a communications program with Zmodem autostart such
  72.     as  GT Power,  I  would recommend setting this to 'YES'.  Basically,
  73.     this means once you select  [D]ownload  from the main menu,  you can
  74.     walk   away   from  the  computer   and  take  a  nap.   BGQWK  will
  75.     automatically bundle messages, download them,  and logoff the board.

  77. N) Check board for new uploads
  78.  
  79.     When this is set  to  'YES',  a  file  called  NEWFILES.DAT  will be
  80.     included in the  QWK  packet  with  a  list  of  new files and their
  81.     descriptions.   Please  note  that  BGQWK  checks only the time/date
  82.     stamp of files uploaded to the board, not the uploaded date.  Please
  83.     note that this option may  not  appear if the sysop has it disabled.

  85. R) Read NEWS files
  86.  
  87.     This option allows you to read  the  news  ALWAYS  or  WHEN UPDATED.
  88.  
  89. W) Read WELCOME/GOODBYE files
  90.  
  91.     This option allows you to view the welcome and goodbye files  ALWAYS
  92.     or NEVER.

  94. B) Check board for new bulletins
  95.  
  96.     When this is set to 'YES', any new bulletin files will be included
  97.     in the QWK packet.

  99. C) Maximum messages per conference
  100. M) Maximum messages per QWK packet
  101.  
  102.     These are self explanatory.  Please note that the sysop may have set
  103.     a  "limit"  and you cannot enter numbers higher than that limit.

  105. S) Maximum size of MESSAGES.DAT
  106.  
  107.     MESSAGES.DAT is the heart file of the  QWK  system.  It contains the
  108.     message headers and message texts.  I  would  recommend setting this
  109.     option to no more than 1024K, but you are free to do so if you wish.
  110.     Remember that this file is compressed with PKZIP,  so the actual QWK
  111.     packet will be much, much smaller than the maximum size.

  113. P) Priority conferences
  114.  
  115.     A  maximum  of  three  priority  conferences  may be  set.  Priority
  116.     conferences are always bundled first.
  117.  
  118. D) Brief conference definition
  119.  
  120.     On conferences flagged as 'BRIEF',  you can tell  BGQWK  whether you
  121.     want  only  your  messages  or  your  messages  as  well as messages
  122.     adressed to 'All'.

  124. Selecting Q)uit at the selection prompt returns you  to  the main  menu.

  126. N)ext will take you to the next screen of conferences.   Pressing  ENTER
  127. on  the  selection  prompt will also take you to the next screen.  P)rev
  128. will take you back to the previous screen of  conferences.   J)oin  will
  129. allow you to join another conference.  U)njoin  will allow you to unjoin
  130. a conference  you  are  currently  joined  into.   L)stRd  allows you to
  131. change the  last read  pointer of a conference.   F)lag  allows  you  to
  132. toggle the  ALL/BRIEF  flag for a conference.  Q)uit  returns you to the
  133. main menu.

  135. This  is  where the  sysop needs to put information about the difference
  136. networks he or she carries and the rules of each if desired.
